Publisher's Note (Published January 2004): The Johnson Space Center's combined workforce in Bay Area Houston accounts for roughly 16,250 jobs and personal incomes of over $2 billion. Although our community has diversified since 1976 when my parents transferred our family to the area to work on the space program, NASA and JSC still plays a major role here in the area and we should not take it or the future forgranted. This is the home of manned space flight and the Bay Runner is committed to keeping you informed about what role JSC and Bay Area Houston will play in the new vision President Bush recently announced (1/2004) for NASA.
